Our Autumn foraging course in the New Forest will start with a talk on the do’s and don’ts of foraging in the Red Shoot Inn followed by approximately a three hour walk around the forest near the pub.
This course is a simple foraging walk where we hope to be able to identify a selection of edible and poisonous wild mushrooms, plus some tasty fruits and plants.
We’ll all get to taste some lovely wild mushroom soup, and hopefully some elderflower champagne when we stop for a break on the walk, then we’ll all get to taste our finds at the end of the walk where we’ll cook some mushrooms pre-picked from elsewhere, at our nearby campsite :).
We will meet at 12pm in the
Red Shoot at Ringwood
Toms Lane
Linwood
Ringwood

The course starts there with a 30 minute introduction on what to look for and a brief of the general countryside codes where they relate to foragers.
After a 2 to 3 hour walk around the woods we will go back to the Red Shoot to discuss and taste our finds.
We will email all of you details of all the plants we find to help you remember what you have learnt.
We recommend you bring
- Warm protective clothing and footwear
- Camera
- Note pad/pen
Under 12 year olds can come for free, within reason; but please let us know how many will be coming in advance.
Drinks at the pub are not included.
