Brecon, Gwernyfed Walled Garden, Forage to Fork Supper

ABOUT THE COURSE

For one night only, we are hosting a forage to fork evening within the Gwernyfed Walled Garden in the stunning Brecon Beacons near Hay on Wye. Gwernyfed is a historic Victorian glasshouse and walled garden that grows amazing fresh produce for the local area.

Our instructor Marlow will be leading you on a short walk around the grounds, teaching you how to safely identify both the edible and poisonous plants and mushrooms you find. Many of the delicious plants discussed would be considered common weeds in most flower beds and vegetable patches.

After the walk we will head back to the glasshouse for a three course sit down wild food meal based on recipes from our new and highly rated Wild Food UK Foragers Cookbook:

Likely Menu for the day

Starter
Polish sorrel soup.
Served with wild garlic bread and a foraged salad garnish.

Main Course
Hogweed and wild garlic pasta with creamy St. Georges mushrooms.
Served with pickled chanterelles and a wild salad.

Dessert
Warm chocolate and chestnut torte.
Served with ice cream  and strawberries 

Everything served will be Vegetarian friendly. Vegan and gluten free options are available on request

Elderflower champagne or wild teas will be provided with the meal.

After the meal Marlow will be available for any questions. There will also be the opportunity to discuss and buy Wild Food UK’s best selling foraging books.

You will also receive a comprehensive set of Wild Food UK ‘Course Notes’ a few days after your course detailing all the foraged goodies found on the day and the recipes used.
